Conga + Batá Drums Workshops
with Joannie Labelle
July 19th and 20th, 2025 – Berlin, Germany

Joannie Labelle is back in Berlin to share her love and knowledge of Cuban drumming with you. In the middle of summer, this is just the right time to warm up your hands and heart and drum with her on July 19th and 20th.
Joannie offers two different levels of classes.

Saturday is for beginners who have little or no experience with drumming. Sunday is for people with good drumming experience (intermediate level) who want to deepen their knowledge, playing and repertoire.​

About your Teacher
Known for her sensitivity and infectious groove, Joannie Labelle charms audiences as soon as she sings or hits the drums.
She studied percussion with various masters including Alain "chepito" Labrosse, Luc Boivin, Paul Picard, Giovanni Hidalgo and Harouna Dembélé. Joannie also studied in Havana, Cuba with masters Raul Lali Brito Gonzalez (Clave y Guaguancó), Alberto Villareal (Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba) and Roland Salgado Palacio (Afro Cuban All Stars). She has been active in local and international scenes such as Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, Hamburg, Bari, Doha and Kolkata, to name a few, and has added her touch to various renowned artists such as Lara Fabian, Silbermond and NoAngels. In 2022 she also performed at the world famous UK Drumshow.
Joannie has a unique talent for mastering different percussions from various cultures and is at home in any musical context, from children's shows to classical concerts. She energizes DJ sets, appears on TV, offers master classes, composes for dance performances, and has produced a video series featuring percussionists from around the world. Joannie also performs as a singer-songwriter.
Since 2020, Joannie spends much of her time in Hamburg, Germany, where she has developed her German network. She has performed in several pop concerts and recently joined the TV show Wer stiehlt mir die Show, hosted by German superstar Joko Winterscheidt. She also performs annually at the legendary Hansa Theater in the Australian production, Velvet.
