Known for her sensibility and contagious groove, Joannie Labelle charms an audience as soon as she sings or strikes the drums.

She studied percussion with various masters such as Alain "chepito" Labrosse, Luc Boivin, Paul Picard, Giovanni Hidalgo and Harouna Dembélé. Joannie also studied in Havana, Cuba, with masters Raul Lali Brito Gonzalez (Clave y Guaguanco), Alberto Villareal (Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba) and Roland Salgado Palacio (Afro Cuban All Stars). She has been active on local and international scenes such as Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, Hamburg, Bari, Doha and Kolkata, to name just a few, and has been adding her touch to various renowned artists such as Lara Fabian, Marie-Josée Lord and Les Trois Accords. In 2022, she also performed at the world reknown UK Drumshow.

Joannie has a very unique talent, mastering different percussions from diverse cultures and being at ease in every musical context, from children shows to classical concerts. She galvanizes DJ sets, appears on TV, offers masterclasses, composes for dance performances, and produced a video serie featuring worldwide percussionists. In addition, Joannie performs as a singer-songwriter under the stage name Bea Box. 

 

Since 2020, Joannie spends a lot of her time in Hamburg where she developed her German network. She has performed in several pop concerts, among others with the renowned Stefanie Heinzmann and No Angels, and participated in the TV show Wer stiehlt mir die Show, hosted by the German superstar Joko Winterscheidt. She currently plays six nights a week in the legendary Hansa Theater in the Australian production Velvet.
